Premium fuel

In your vehicle’s manual if it says premium fuel is recommended that means that you don’t need to purchase premium fuel. Your engine is perfectly prepared to handle lower octane fuel and the only reason you will ever need premium fuel is if you go on a racetrack.

Small cars are the best vehicles for fuel economy

About half of the top 10 most fuel-efficient vehicles are midsize or large cars. These vehicles offer advanced technologies like hybrid drivetrains, direct fuel injection, turbocharged engines and aerodynamic designs to allow vehicles to be more fuel efficient.

Vehicles need to heat up during the winter

Contrary to popular belief, your vehicle doesn’t have to stay idle before you start driving for long periods of time. The longest your vehicle will need to idle before driving during the winter is about 60 seconds. After that, all you need to do is a slow acceleration and your engine will heat up to where it needs to be.

Manual transmissions get better fuel economy

While this may have been true at one point in time, this is no longer a fact. Modern vehicles have improved their efficiency to the point where automatic transmissions get about the same or better fuel economy than a manual transmission.
