Food banks near Portland OR
Thanksgiving is almost here and if you are coming up short for food or are looking to help volunteer, we have created a list of nearby food banks in the Portland area. Keep reading to find one near you.
Oregon Food Bank
Starting back in 1988, the Oregon Food Bank does things a little differently now. They collect food from farmers, manufacturers, retailers, individuals and government sources. Because of all the access to food, they are able to distribute food to 1,400 food assistance sites.
North East Emergency Food
In just the past five months, the North East Emergency Food Program has served 250,000 individuals are distributed over 6.5 million pounds of food. Hours are Thursday and Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Some foods included in the packages are bread, dairy, tuna and pasta staples.
Allen Temple Food Pantry
Donations and volunteers are always needed at the Allen Temple Food Pantry. Contact them at 503-284-1010 if you need assistance or would like to help out. The food center hours are the third, fourth and fifth Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, the second, third and fourth Wednesday from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm.
Sharon Community Service
Open during the last two Saturdays of the month from 2:00 until 4:00 pm. For more information, contact the Sharon Church Food Pantry at 503-287-7649.
