Stores that allow online order or curbside pick up

If you can find a grocery store that allows for curbside pickup, try having that as your first option. This way you come into contact with less individuals. If you choose curb pickup, consider opening your car door yourself inside of the employee to keep everything as sanitary as possible. Online retailers like Amazon, send your orders right to your home as well. Nonperishable items are a great option through online purchases.

If you go to the store

When online food shopping does not have all your options, there’s the physical store. Try to go during a time that is less busy. Make sure to wear some sort of face covering and stay about 6 feet away from anyone if you do decide to go into a store. These are two steps the Centers for Disease Control recommends. When you are ready to purchase your items, try to only use your debit or credit card so there are less ways you can exchange potential germs.

After you come home from the store

Once you come home, wash your hands right away. If you want to be extra careful, once you have purchased everything, wipe down all non-porous containers like cans or glass with disinfectant wipes.
